What is the AI Text Detector?

TextoLab analyzes statistical and structural characteristics in the supplied writing. It reports AI-like patterns without claiming to identify the author.

How to use it

Paste a complete passage, choose Analyze Text, then read the score together with the Overview, highlighted passages, suggestions, confidence, and sample-size warning.

How the AI Writing Score works

The AI Writing Score combines several configurable signal families. Correlated evidence is limited and short samples are scaled conservatively. The score describes patterns in this sample; it is not a probability of AI authorship.

Signals analyzed

  • Sentence-length rhythm and structural similarity.
  • Vocabulary diversity and predictability proxies.
  • Repeated phrases, openings, and content words.
  • Paragraph shape, transitions, and punctuation behavior.

Interpreting the score

Low

Few strong AI-like regularities were found.

Moderate

Some patterns deserve review, but evidence is mixed.

High

Several pattern families contribute substantial evidence.

Very High

Strong evidence appears across multiple signal families; it still does not prove authorship.

Why AI detection is uncertain

Human writing can be highly regular, formal, or repetitive. AI writing can be edited, varied, translated, or mixed with human work. Both false positives and false negatives are possible.

Why longer samples help

Longer samples provide more sentences, paragraphs, and vocabulary for comparison. Very short text can make one ordinary characteristic look disproportionately important, so TextoLab warns and reduces confidence.

Patterns the report may identify

  • Repeated sentence openings or word sequences.
  • Unusually similar sentence or paragraph shapes.
  • Transitions repeated in regular positions.
  • Limited punctuation or cross-paragraph style variation.

Frequently asked questions

Can this prove that AI wrote a text?

No. It is a heuristic writing-pattern report, not authorship proof.

Why can formal writing score higher?

Formal and technical prose may use consistent structures and repeated terminology. Findings must be interpreted in context.

Does TextoLab detect plagiarism?

No. It does not search external documents or the internet.

Why does sample length matter?

More text provides more independent evidence and makes statistical measurements less fragile.
